Why we made it
Picking six numbers every week takes longer than you’d think. Birthdays, anniversaries, last night’s dream, even the numbers you just missed last week.
Lotto Yaho adds one more ingredient to all that thinking. It gathers past Lotto 6/45 winning numbers and shows you the numbers that have come up often, the ones that haven’t come up in a long time, and the recent trend. Then it picks numbers for you from there. (Truth be told, I made it for myself.)
And there’s one thing we made clear from the start. Statistics only add to the fun of choosing; they don’t change the odds of winning. Every draw is an independent, random result, and Lotto Yaho does not guarantee a win.
Lotto 6/45: a few facts
Korea’s Lotto 6/45 was first issued on December 2, 2002, and the first draw was held on December 7 (Maeil Shinmun, 2022-01-02). You pick six of the numbers from 1 to 45.
There are 8,145,060 ways in all to choose 6 out of 45. So the odds of first prize, where all six numbers match, are 1 in 8,145,060 (Donghaeng Lottery). Whether you pick 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or your birthday numbers, the odds are the same for any combination.
There are rules to keep, too. Under the Lottery and Lottery Fund Act (「복권 및 복권기금법」), people under 19 cannot buy lottery tickets. At a shop, one person can buy up to 100,000 won of tickets at a time; online, only up to 5,000 won per draw (Donghaeng Lottery).
Many ways to choose
Lotto Yaho has several ways to pick numbers.
- Comprehensive Analysis — looks at cumulative frequency, recent winning numbers and numbers that haven’t come up in a long time, all together.
- Hot Numbers · Cold Numbers — picks from numbers that have come up often, or from numbers that haven’t come up for a long time.
- Most Frequent — picks mainly from the numbers that have come up most often across all past draws.
- Random — no criteria at all, completely at random.
- Custom — you pick the numbers yourself, and the remaining spots can be filled at random.
Whichever way you choose, the odds are the same. The different ways are there to make the moment of choosing a little more fun.

You can turn the numbers you pick into a QR code to check them and use when you buy. There’s no need to write them down or memorize them. Save the numbers you like to the Locker, and once the draw is over, it tells you whether they won.

Lotto Yaho is an app for people 19 and over, and an unofficial service unrelated to Donghaeng Lottery or any other lottery operator.
The draw is around 8:35 pm every Saturday (Donghaeng Lottery). We hope the few minutes you spend picking numbers become a small flutter of excitement in a week of waiting for that moment. Whatever the result, we hope that flutter, at least, is light and fun.
